Citu is an award-winning sustainable property developer revolutionising housing developments in the UK. They are committed to tackling climate change by helping to create better City Centre places to live, work and play. ‘Placemaking’ is a concept often overused by the property industry, but Citu truly deliver on this promise of sustainable architecture with a focus on the best infrastructure, community, technology and amenities.

Citu was planning to launch the hugely impressive Climate Innovation District in Leeds City Centre and needed a new website that showcased their brand story, capturing all the exciting elements of their development as it happened each week. The brief was to deliver a modern web experience akin to online-first disrupter brands like Tesla. Not only did the site need to inspire people to register interest to find out more, it needed to allow people to buy a Citu Home online.

We assembled a dream team of brand strategists, designers, motion artists and systems developers to create the best online brand experience for Citu. It involved us really getting to grips with how Citu operates and what sits at the core of their purpose.

Together with the Citu team, we had a lot of fun exploring ‘what could be possible’ online to produce a phased rollout plan. When it came to production, we knew we needed to develop a really intuitive system, but we also needed beautiful UI design to reflect the Scandinavian architectural approach and present Citu’s strong company values and purpose. Across a number of development sprints, the site grew from brochureware to a fully operational system with integrated CRM.

The launch of the site coincided with the official launch of the Climate Innovation District and as part of their larger integrated marketing campaign, the site was the central focal point for information and inspiration. The whole launch was extremely successful, so much so that Citu received an unprecedented amount of interest on day one, with the first people reserving properties through the website on the very day of launch. A testament to the success of the site within the overall marketing strategy.
